Edo Train Kidnap: Another kidnapped victim has been freed by Edo State Command agents working with other security personnel, vigilantes, and hunters.

The rescue of a second female victim brought the overall number of rescued victims to seven.

Recall that on Saturday, 32 passengers were waiting to board a train at the Igueben Train Station in the Igueben Local Government of Edo State when gunmen suspected of being kidnappers abducted them.

Seven people have been rescued, according to SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, the command’s spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Government has provided some clarifications regarding the state’s train station kidnapping.

According to the government, the missing people from the Tom Ikimi/Ekehen station in Igueben on Saturday were 20 not 32 as had been widely reported.

According to Chris Nehikhare, commissioner for communication and orientation, seven of the abductees have been freed, leaving 13 victims still in the gunmen’s custody.

Nehikhare told journalist that the AK-47-wielding militants were being pursued by security personnel, vigilantes, and hunters.

He promised that they would be freed unscathed and without having to pay a ransom.

According to the information gathered by this Online Newspaper, the kidnappers made contact with members of the victims’ families on Monday and demanded a ransom payment of N20 million for each of the kidnapped victims.

Benson Ordia, a youth leader in the neighbourhood, confirmed the incident and stated that the state government has promised to conduct a survey in the neighbourhood.

SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, who serves as the spokesperson for the Edo state Command, has stated that he is unaware of the demand made by the kidnappers.

It is important to keep in mind that 32 passengers were abducted on Saturday when armed men stormed the station and took them into the surrounding forest.

Security personnel, in conjunction with hunters and vigilantes, were able to save six of the victims, including three children.
