Federal High Court in Lagos Rules in Favour of Cubana Chief Priest.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ruled in favour of celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, by granting a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to discontinue its suit against him.
This decision follows the disclosure by both parties that they were exploring a settlement in the matter.
EFCC to Arraign Cubana Chiefpriest Over Alleged Naira Abuse
During the court session on 2nd May, the defence counsel, Mr. Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that negotiations for a settlement were ongoing. Consequently, the court adjourned the case to 5th June for a report on the settlement progress.
Bobrisky Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison for Naira Abuse
The case was subsequently adjourned to 5th June (today) for the settlement report. However, on Wednesday, the defence requested another adjournment, resulting in the case being rescheduled for mention on 25th June.
Cubana Chief Priest is accused of tampering with N500 denomination funds while dancing at a social event, an action the EFCC claims contravenes the Central Bank Act of 2007. He was arraigned on 17th April on a three-count charge related to Naira abuse.
