Election Tribunal fixes new date for the pre-hearing on Atiku’s petition

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), led by Justice Haruna Tsammani and comprising of five members, has decided to adjourn the pre-hearing session in the petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) until Thursday.

 

At the close of the court session on Tuesday, it was announced that the petition submitted by APM will be heard at 9am, while the joint petition filed by Atiku and the PDP will be heard at 2pm on Thursday.

Justice Tsammani directed the attorneys involved in the petition to convene and reconcile their stances regarding the documents to be submitted, those to be contested, and those to be admitted without objection prior to adjourning.

 

He instructed them to submit their distilled issues for consideration in the petitions.

Previously, Chris Uche (SAN), legal representative for Atiku and PDP, informed the court that his clients have submitted a motion requesting the broadcasting of the proceedings.

The legal representatives for the respondents, namely Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) for INEC, Akin Olujinmi (SAN) for Bola Tinubu, and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) for the APC, have indicated their intention to submit their responses within the stipulated timeframe as prescribed by the court’s regulations.
