Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, has urged his closest rivals in Saturday’s presidential election, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, to follow in the footsteps of former President Goodluck Jonathan and concede defeat.
Jonathan conceded defeat to then-General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election before the final tally was completed.

Tinubu also cautioned both the PDP and the LP against calling for the cancellation of the election, comparing it to a full-term pregnancy that cannot be terminated.
The candidate for the APC also accused former president Olusegun Obasanjo of attempting to curtail the nation’s democracy by calling for the annulment of election results in certain regions.
Mr. Dele Alake, Special Adviser for Media, Public Affairs, and Strategic Communications, stated at a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja that Obasanjo’s call was based on unsubstantiated claims, rumors, and allegations of fraud by opposition parties led by the PDP and LP.

Having realized that they have lost the election, the opposition parties would rather Nigeria’s hard-won democracy be sacrificed on the altar of their lies, according to Mr. Alake.
“You must also be aware of the conspiracy between the PDP and Labour Party, whose representatives left the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Monday,” he said.
