Director of Communications at the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), M.A Ahmed, confirmed the unfortunate incident, revealing that the fire primarily affected the utility rooms spanning from the second to the eighth floors of the Federal Secretariat building.
According to Ahmed, the emergency unfolded around 2:30 p.m. on the said day when an explosion occurred in the Electrical Utility Room on the 3rd Floor of Block C. This particular room was being utilized as a Solar and Inverter Room by the present occupant, the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“The incident, which was brought under control by the prompt response of personnel from the Federal, as well as the FCT Fire Services at about 5:00 p.m., affected the Utility Rooms on the second to the eighth floors of the building,” explained Ahmed.
The gravity of the situation prompted the presence of high-ranking officials, including Permanent Secretaries Mrs. Lydia S. Jafiya from the Common Services Office-OHCSF, and Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo from the Special Duties Office.
