Former state minister of state for mines and steel development Uche Ogah was found guilty of forgery by an Abia state magistrate court in Umuahia.
Ogah was accused of fabricating the party’s direct primary result sheet “with the intent that it may be acted on as genuine” in a lawsuit filed by the Abia state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022, despite not taking part in the party’s governorship primary on May 26.

The party added that Ogah’s “falsification” was harmful to the party and Ikechi Emenike, whom the party recognises as its “authentic governorship flagbearer,” and that the offence violates section 465 of the Criminal Code (as it applies in Abia) and is punishable under section 467.
Ngozi Nwangwa, the case’s presiding magistrate, made the following remarks:
“The defendant has no defence, in my opinion.

I hereby commit Dr. Uche Ogah to prison for the alleged crime.
The magistrate gave security agencies the order to arrest Ogah wherever he may be and hold him in any detention facility until the day he is brought to court for sentencing after acknowledging his absence during the court proceeding.
Additionally, it was discovered that the Minister, who was not represented by counsel throughout the proceeding, has not shown up in court since the matter was scheduled for hearing in November.
