Adamawa NSCDC Commandant summoned to Abuja over role in Binani’s illegal declaration

The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has summoned the Adamawa State Commandant of the Corps, Muhammad Bello, to appear at the Corps’ National Headquarters and provide an explanation regarding his involvement in the recently concluded state election.

In a recent development, it has been reported that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been accused of complicity in the controversial supplementary election, along with other security agencies. This move has been made in response to the accusations levelled against the Corps.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Corps, Commandant Olusola Odumosu, has stated that the summons of the Corps’ CG is a result of the allegations made against the Corps regarding their involvement in the political controversy surrounding the Adamawa State governorship election.

The Commandant of the State has been directed by the CG to temporarily delegate his responsibilities to his subordinate. This decision was made to give the Commandant ample time to provide an explanation regarding his involvement in the exercise.

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated the organization’s stance as a non-partisan and non-political entity. The Commandant General made it clear that the NSCDC will not condone any involvement of its personnel or formations in political controversies.
