A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has called for reconciliation between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to restore peace in the state.

Political tensions have been high since the two leaders fell out, culminating in the burning of local government secretariats on Monday.

Speaking on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, George emphasized that his primary interest is the restoration of peace in Rivers State, without taking sides. He noted that Governor Fubara is the legitimate leader of the PDP in the state and requires the full support of the party to succeed.

“Justice is, who is the leader of the party in the state? It is not the minister, it is this governor,” George stated.

He revealed that efforts have been made by the PDP Board of Trustees to reconcile the two, with plans for further discussions when Wike returns from China.
