The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s handling of fuel subsidies, claiming it has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s current economic crisis.

Atiku expressed concern over Tinubu’s apparent indifference to the hardships Nigerians are facing, particularly following the recent spike in petrol prices.

The National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recently increased the pump price of petrol from N897 per litre to N1,030 in Abuja and from N855 to N998 in Lagos. This increase has fueled public frustration and concern over rising living costs.

Atiku took to social media platform X to voice his discontent, stating, “The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country.”

He further warned that inflation rates would continue to escalate, stating, “As things stand, there will be no let-up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians.”

In a particularly pointed remark, Atiku referred to Tinubu as “T-Pain,” emphasizing his perceived disconnect from the struggles of ordinary Nigerians. “It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country,” he added.

Atiku’s comments underscore the growing discontent among citizens as they grapple with increasing prices and economic instability, leaving many to question how the current administration plans to address these pressing challenges.
