Bovi expressed his disappointment over the media’s exaggeration of the incident during a weekend Instagram live session with his followers.
The comedian from Delta State disclosed that the visa officer he encountered at the embassy was extremely unfriendly, but he did not specify what transpired between them.
He expressed embarrassment that the story was amplified by the media and questioned how anyone could gain access to a visa officer, who is protected by a glass wall.
Recalling the incident, Bovi stated that he merely asked the officer how many visas he had obtained in the previous ten years, given that he had always had two American visas during that time frame.
The officer reportedly responded, “There is a new sheriff in town,” before returning Bovi’s and his wife’s passports.
“According to how everything transpired, it escalated in the media. They began to tell varying versions of the story, he said.
The well-known comedian also discussed his strained relationship with his father as a child and revealed his intention to raise his own children differently.
“I am attempting to raise my children differently from how I was raised by my father,” he added.
