Gov Samuel Ortom inaugurates Peter Obi campaign team in Benue
A campaign team for Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has reportedly been launched in Benue ahead of the 2023 election by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
According to a governor associate who requested anonymity and spoke to journalists, Ortom had urged his foot soldiers to support Obi even though he had not publicly endorsed anyone.

“Governor Ortom has already established an Obi team using his most trusted aides and allies.”
The group’s chairman is Professor Dennis Tyavyar, a former candidate for governor. Before resigning to run for governor, he served as Ortom’s commissioner for education.

The G5: In September 2022, the governors of Benue, Rivers, Abia, Enugu, and Oyo states—Governors Ortom, Nyesom Wike, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Seyi Makinde— have continued to demand that Iyorchia Ayu the party national chairman resigns for fairness in the party.
