May 29: Ganduje Directs All Political Appointees To Resign
The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has ordered all Public Officers to hand over their respective offices’ affairs in accordance with established procedure as part of his preparations to leave office at the end of his eight-year term.
This is stated in a communication titled “Handover of ActivItes” from the office of the state secretary and signed by Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, permanent secretary REPA.

The statement noted that the Permanent Secretary handed over all honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chief Executives of Parastatals/Government-owned companies and other political appointees to the permanent secretaries and Director Administration and general services in their respective institutions.
According to custom in the public sector, such handover notes are typically addressed to the most senior director in parastatals and the permanent secretaries in ministries, departments, and agencies.
“As the second term of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR, expires on May 29, 2023, it is imperative that all Public Officers holding political appointments hand over the affairs of their offices in accordance with established procedure.

“In this regard, I hereby formally request such public officers holding political appointments, including honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chief Executives of Parastatals/Government-owned Companies, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, Board Members, etc. (except Kano State Civil Servants holding the positions of Executive Secretaries and Managing Directors of Parastatals and Government-owned Companies) to hand-over the affairs of their respective offices to the new administration.”
He thanked his cabinet for their support throughout his eight-year administration.
