Former Sheffield United Defender George Baldock Found Dead in Greece.
Former Sheffield United defender George Baldock is dead, aged 31. In a statement, police in Greece said the footballer was found dead in his swimming pool where he had been living.
According to reports, it was Baldock’s wife who attracted the attention of multiple media outlets in Greece after she was unable to reach him for several hours. That had elicited concerns for his safety, ending with his body being found.

Having played for seven seasons with Sheffield United, Baldock had left the club this summer. He had grown to be favored by the fans and his teammates, alike and by the staff due to his commitment on the pitch, adding in his locker room presence.
Sheffield United issued an immediate statement of their shock and devastation at the news of the sudden death of their player, Baldock.

Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player George Baldock. The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff and team-mates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him,” the statement read.
The club extended its “sincere condolences” to Baldock’s family and friends during this difficult time.
