Gunmen allegedly enforcing the proscribed sit-at-home order launched a wave of violent attacks across Anambra Central Senatorial Zone on Monday morning, resulting in multiple casualties.
The attacks, which took place between 8 am and 10 am, targeted the communities of Abatete, Abagana, and Ukpo. In Abatete, gunmen ambushed vigilant personnel guarding the town’s President-General (PG).

The assailants fatally shot three security personnel, leaving the President-General critically wounded. He was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The violence continued as the attackers struck the Abagana and Ukpo communities. At Ukpo roundabout in Dunukofia Local Government Area, a Vigilante Group member and a motorcycle rider lost their lives in separate assaults.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incidents but noted that details remain sketchy. The police spokesperson stated: “Our operatives are currently on the scene. I will provide further updates as more information becomes available.”
