Gunmen kidnap PDP chieftain, Eyo Edet in Akwa Ibom
Eyo Edet, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, was abducted by armed men at his filling station in the Oron Local Government Area of the state.
Ejes Gist News Nigeria has learned that the politician was at the petrol station on Monday when the suspects stormed the property and abducted him in a Toyota Sienna.

According to a source, Edet, who served as the Deputy Coordinator of the PDP’s Divine Campaign Organisation in Oron during the last elections, was subsequently taken aboard a speedboat and transported to an unidentified location.
The source also revealed that the suspects set fire to the Sienna in an attempt to conceal the crime.
As of the time this report was filed, the source stated that the kidnappers had not yet contacted Edet’s family to demand ransom.
Odiko Macdon, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that state Police Commissioner Olatoye Durosinmi had visited the scene and ordered an investigation into the matter.

He stated, “We have received word that the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, has visited the incident site and the waterfront. Even the Sienna used to commit the crime has been recovered.
The investigation has already begun, and I am confident that the perpetrators will be apprehended in short order.”
