Double-leg amputee, Hari Budha Magar makes history, climbs Mount Everest
A veteran of the United States Army who lost both legs in Afghanistan has climbed to the summit of Mount Everest in an attempt to make mountaineering history.
Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha soldier, intended to be the first double above-knee amputee to climb the mountain.

Hari, a 43-year-old Canterbury resident, accepted the challenge to “inspire others” and alter perceptions of disability.
His team reported that he reached the summit around 15:00 BST on Friday.
He told them over a satellite phone call that it was “harder than I could have ever imagined.”
He advised them to “keep going and press for the summit, regardless of how much it hurts or how long it takes.”
In 2010, Hari lost both legs after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, agents have intercepted a large shipment of methamphetamine concealed in powdered custard containers as part of a consolidated cargo destined for London, United Kingdom, at the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos.
On Tuesday, May 16th, NDLEA agents discovered and seized a shipment of illicit drugs weighing 30.10 kilogrammes and having a street value of N567 million at the airport.

Femi Babafemi, the spokesman for the anti-drug agency, stated that a series of follow-up operations led to the arrest of a goods agent, Nwobodo Chidiebere, a female suspect, Chioma Lucy Akuta, and ultimately the drug lord responsible for the shipment, Charles Chinedu Ezeh, who was arrested on Thursday, May 18 at Sotel Suites, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
