Atiku Abubakar Remains Defiant, Vows History Will Vindicate Him
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Bola Tinubu’s election victory, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential contender of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 2023 election, has expressed his unwavering resolve that history will eventually exonerate him.
Atiku voiced his sentiments on Monday, as he criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling. The seven-member panel, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, had dismissed the appeals filed by Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi.

In Atiku’s words, “At a critical point in my political life, I always chose the path of truth, morality, and rule of law. History will vindicate me.”
He reflected on the pivotal role he played in the struggle to transition Nigeria from military to civilian rule, a mission that often placed him in the crosshairs of adversaries.
Atiku recounted a harrowing episode where nine policemen guarding his residence in Kaduna were tragically slain in an attempt to assassinate him. This dire circumstance ultimately forced him into a nine-month exile.

Addressing his decision to file a lawsuit challenging Tinubu’s academic credentials, the former Vice President emphasized that the matter transcends personal interests.
Atiku underscored its significance for Nigeria’s future, the type of society it aspires to be, and the example it sets for forthcoming generations.
He further emphasized the impact on Nigeria’s global reputation and the perception of its citizens worldwide.
