BREAKING: Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Assistant Superintendent Of Police at Checkpoint
An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) from the Ekiti State Police Command has been killed in a hit-and-run incident. The officer, identified as ASP Idris Lawal, was crushed to death at a checkpoint on Iworoko Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The tragic event occurred on Monday night, according to an internal police memo obtained by SaharaReporters. The document indicated that ASP Lawal was struck by an unregistered white Mercedes Benz while performing stop-and-search duties at Ayemi Garage.

Despite being rushed to the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti for medical treatment, the officer was pronounced dead by a doctor.
The memo detailed that the officer’s body has been taken to the EKSU Teaching Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy. Authorities are actively working to apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal accident. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oke-Ila has been informed of the situation and is overseeing the investigation.
