His arrest followed a viral audio he allegedly produced accusing Dr. Ikedi Ohakim of funnelling one million dollars to Labour Party delegates in order to buy their votes for the nomination of Senator Athan Achonu as Labour Party guber candidate in the upcoming Imo gubernatorial elections. Achonu ultimately won the LP governor primary.
It was alleged that the audio sparked a backlash against former Governor Ohakim among Labour Party supporters, and that it was aimed at tarnishing Ohakim’s reputation, leading to his direct complaint to the police, which ultimately led to the arrest of Nwadike.
Currently, the suspect is being held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. According to a source, he may be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
