A legal uproar has emerged in Kogi State as lawyer Deji Ajare calls for the impeachment of Governor Usman Ododo over his alleged involvement in shielding his political benefactor, Yahaya Bello, from arrest.
According to reports by The Punch on Friday, April 19, Ajare accused Governor Ododo of misconduct and abuse of office, urging the Kogi State House of Assembly to take immediate action.

The controversy stems from an incident on Wednesday, April 18, where Ododo reportedly used his official motorcade to whisk away Bello when officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sought to arrest the former governor at his Abuja residence.
Bello faces accusations of laundering a staggering sum of N80.2 billion during his tenure as Kogi governor, a charge that has prompted EFCC’s pursuit.

In his letter, Ajare emphasized the importance of upholding the constitution and the rule of law, urging swift action by the legislative body.
