“I had polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and I had Psoriasis,” she disclosed. “I was bleeding every day for four months, and my period did not stop. The way it started was that my period did not come for over a year.”
Olayode went on to describe the severity of her condition, mentioning that she had to use an alarming amount of sanitary towels daily, with one particularly distressing incident where she awoke to find her bed soaked with blood, despite recently changing her sanitary pad.
Her concern about her health led her to seek medical attention. She recounted the fear she felt at the prospect of what the doctors might diagnose. Her sister’s advice led them to a gynecologist, where a series of tests were conducted to determine the root cause of her health issues.
“I was hoping it was not going to be cancer,” Olayode admitted, reflecting the anxiety she faced during this period. Thankfully, the tests revealed that she was dealing with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
