Presidential election: My family conspired against me to vote for Peter Obi – Gov Umahi
Governor David Umahi has revealed that his family conspired against him during the presidential election to vote for Peter Obi of the Labour Party without his knowledge.
He disclosed this on Monday during an interview with Channels Television.
It was surprising, according to him, that both President Muhammadu Buhari and the president-elect lost their states to opposition parties on February 25.

According to him, the votes obtained by the LP during the election were not because of Peter Obi, but rather as a protest vote in response to Nigeria’s apparent difficulties and challeneges.
“In all honesty, I did not give the Labour Party a chance to win any election in my state (Ebonyi State) because what we have in place is such that no other political party should be able to win anything, not even the Councilorship election in my state. I saw the vote for the Labour Party as a protest against my party (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“I was very surprised; there was even a plot against me within my own family. I was unaware that they voted for Peter Obi, but I do know that they voted for the APC in the other election because of what we’ve done in the state.

“This was not a vote for Peter Obi. Consequently, there appears to be hardship and difficulty in Nigeria”, he stated.
Recall that Tinubu won the presidency by defeating Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi.
In contrast, Umahi had won the Senate seat for the Ebonyi South Zone to represent his constituents in the 10th National Assembly.
