In a bid to empower Nigeria’s technical talent and bolster its presence in the digital economy, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy has launched the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. This initiative is a key component of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda, with the aim of positioning Nigeria as a net talent exporter and creating two million digital jobs by 2025, in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s vision.

The first phase of the 3MTT programme, executed in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), involves multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations. The agency has outlined a comprehensive plan to identify individuals with specific technical skills and fund their training in collaboration with approved training providers.

NITDA 3MTT Programme stages

For the inaugural phase, the 3MTT programme will focus on developing 12 key technical skills, which are as follows: Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis and Visualization, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing, and Dev Ops.

How to Get Shortlisted for the 3MTT Program – First Phase

NITDA emphasizes that the program’s fellows will receive specialized training in these technical skills, enabling them to compete effectively in both the local and global technical talent market. Furthermore, the agency is actively seeking organizations to participate as training providers in its mission to train 30,000 fellows across Nigeria.

Notably, there are no fees associated with becoming a training provider or for the program’s fellows. Even organizations without physical training facilities are encouraged to apply, provided they have access to such facilities when needed.

Steps on how to apply for NITDA 3MTT Programme 2023.

For individuals interested in joining the NITDA 3MTT, the application process is straightforward. Here are the five steps to apply:

1. Visit the official website: Go to 3MTT NITDA and provide your National Identification Number (NIN), email address, and phone number.

2. Complete the application form: Fill out the application form with your relevant details.

3. Specify your employment status and background skills: Share your current employment status and describe your existing skills.

4. Choose a training program: Select a training program from the various options available, such as Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, and more.

5. Submit the application: Once you have filled out the application form and chosen your desired training program, submit your application. Be prepared to await further instructions via email.

After the successful submission of your application at NITDA 3MTT Programme 2023 Application Portal, an email will be sent to inform you that your application has been received.”

The next steps are crucial to finalizing your participation in the programme:

Create Password: After verifying your email address, you will be prompted to create a secure password. This will be your key to accessing the 3MTT portal and its resources.

Complete Application: Once you have successfully signed in and created your password, you will be required to provide additional information to complete your application. This will include confirming your course, experience level and taking the questionnaire.

Please note that you will need to complete your application by 11:59pm on Sunday 12th November, 2023 to be considered for the phase of 30,000 fellows (representing 1% of our 3 Million target). The first phase of 30,000 fellows will be informed by November 15th, 2023.

For applicants who may not be selected into this 1st training phase, your application will be in queue for the next batch and you will also be a part of our learning community where we will be providing learning support and additional resources to you.
