Sowore: No Envy Towards Obi’s OBIdient Movement, Claims Instrumental Role in Obi’s Candidacy”
Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, has addressed rumors and perceptions surrounding his relationship with Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) counterpart, dismissing any sentiments of envy or obsession towards the former Governor of Anambra State.
In a recent space titled “MIC ON PODCAST” held on Saturday, Sowore clarified his stance on the purported “OBIdient” movement, highlighting that it lacked authenticity.
“I am not envious of Peter Obi or obsessed with him because the (OBIdient) movement is not real,” Sowore stated during the session.

He further elaborated on his previous involvement in supporting Obi, claiming to have played a pivotal role in facilitating Obi’s candidacy within the Labour Party. Sowore asserted that he provided crucial documentation that assisted Femi Falana (SAN) in securing Obi’s position within the LP.
“If not for me, Peter Obi wouldn’t have become the candidate of the Labour Party. I was the one who provided the document that was used by Femi Falana (SAN) to get Peter Obi a spot in the Labour Party,” Sowore claimed.
Sowore also referenced his past support for Obi during his tenure as governor, citing instances where he utilized Sahara Reporters, the media platform he founded, to expose alleged plots against Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Reflecting on the purported OBIdient Movement associated with Obi, Sowore questioned its authenticity, criticizing its purported lack of action in response to alleged injustices.
He asserted his freedom to express opinions about Obi without fear, contrasting it with the perceived fear displayed by others amidst the movement’s influence, particularly on social media.
The statements made by Sowore add a new dimension to the discourse surrounding his relationship with Obi, shedding light on his perspective and past involvement in facilitating Obi’s political trajectory.
