The minors, reportedly arrested in August during a hunger-related protest, appeared visibly malnourished when they were charged with treason at the Federal High Court last Friday, sparking nationwide outrage.

In response to public outcry and criticism from various stakeholders, IGP Egbetokun has ordered a full investigation into the conditions surrounding their detention. After receiving the initial findings on Monday in Glasgow, where he is attending the Interpol General Assembly, Egbetokun pledged to thoroughly assess the report and implement appropriate measures.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the move in a statement issued Monday night. According to Adejobi, the IGP has also scheduled a conference and workshop focused on child-friendly investigation practices and detainee care for November 7, 2024, at the Police Resource Center, Jabi.
