Arise News MD, Ijeoma Nwogwugwu Resigns
After serving as the managing director of ARISE TV for the past four years, veteran journalist Ijeoma Nwogwugwu has announced that she will be stepping down from her position.
On Wednesday, Ms. Nwogwugwu handed in her resignation, providing a one-month notice of her intention to disengage from the position.

This online newspaper was unable to immediately confirm the reason for her resignation; however, a source close to her has stated that she wants to move on after working closely with Nduka Obaigbena, the chairman of ThisDay, for more than two decades.
Nwogwugwu is a business editor who has worked for the ThisDay group from 1995 until 2001. She is a graduate of the University of Lagos.
Between 2007 and 2016, Obaigbena promoted her to the position of executive director at ThisDay and appointed her to the board of directors.

During that time, she was also responsible for editing the paper’s weekend and daily editions at various points.
The 55-year-old woman is widely regarded as one of the most influential women in the field of journalism in Nigeria. In 2018, she was given the position of managing director at Arise News.
She was recognized by Women in Journalism Africa, also known as WiJAfrica, as one of the 25 most influential women in journalism in the year 2020.

As a result of his time spent working for both the Bureau of Public Enterprises and Merchant Bank for Africa, Nwogwugwu possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience gleaned from the private sector.
