Nigeria’s newly elected president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, extended an olive branch to his rivals in the 2023 presidential race, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), promising justice and acknowledging their importance in the country’s political scene.
Tinubu particularly mentioned Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the February 25th, 2023 election’s runner-up, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who finished third, during his inauguration speech at Eagle Square on Monday.

“My victory does not elevate me above the Nigerian people, nor does it diminish the patriotism of my opponents,” said Tinubu, reiterating his commitment to maintaining national unity. Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar will be treated as significant compatriots.
Meanwhile, all government bank accounts in the state of Benue are to be blocked, according to an order from Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Shortly after taking the oath of office as governor of Benue State at the IBB Square on Monday, Alia issued the directive in his inaugural speech.

A “Post No Debit” command, according to the governor, will be in effect until all signatories are altered.
He issued a warning to all banks to immediately follow the instruction.
“May I announce that all government bank accounts in all banks are hereby frozen, effective immediately and until further notice,” he stated. An instruction to “Post No Debit” is valid until all signatories are modified. Any bank that disregards this directive does so at their own peril.
