Italy Rules Out Sending Soldiers to Ukraine, Citing Escalation Concerns.
Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has confirmed that Italy will not deploy soldiers to Ukraine, emphasizing the potential risk of escalating the ongoing conflict.
In a statement, Tajani said, “We will not send any soldiers to fight in Ukraine.” He reiterated Italy’s commitment to supporting Ukraine politically, financially, and militarily, but clarified that this assistance would not include direct military involvement.

Avoiding Escalation
Tajani expressed concerns about the dangers of escalation, accusing Russia of recruiting foreign fighters, including North Korean soldiers, Houthis, and Iranian proxies. He underlined Italy’s stance on preventing further intensification of the war while continuing to support Ukraine.
Military Aid to Ukraine
Italy has consistently provided Ukraine with military aid, including anti-aircraft missiles, artillery systems, and armored vehicles. Recently, it was announced that Italy would supply Ukraine with SAMP/T air defense systems as part of a new aid package.
