Jonathan meets Tinubu briefs him on developments in Mali
Former President Goodluck Jonathan briefed President Bola Tinubu on some political developments in West Africa at the State House.
Dr. Jonathan is the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Special Envoy to Mali.
The former president stated that he was at the State House to convey to President Tinubu the results of his discussions with other members of the West African Elders Forum, which he chairs.

“I came to update the President on the activities of several continental and subcontinental organisations. You are aware that I serve as the ECOWAS mediator for Mali and as the chairman of the West African Elders Forum.
“Therefore, there are certain continental and subregional issues that I discuss with various presidents,” he said.

On June 11, members of Mali’s security forces voted in advance of the new constitution referendum scheduled for June 18.
The referendum is regarded as a significant milestone in the run-up to the elections scheduled for February 2024.
