Lagos State Gets Automobile Hub In UNILAG, To Begin Manufacturing Of Cars
In an effort to assist practical training in auto engineering and enhance career possibilities, University of Lagos, UNILAG has established an Automobile Hub.
This online newspaper reports that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has praised NORD Automobile and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for establishing an automobile hub in Lagos State.
At the UNILAG-NORD Vehicle Hub’s opening ceremony at the University of Lagos, Akoka, the Governor issued a compliment, declaring that Nigeria had given birth to a huge idea that would significantly influence the field of automobile engineering.
The development of the Hub, according to Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande, is proof that businesses are thriving in Lagos.
In Lagos, we are very deliberate about fostering an environment that will enable businesses expand sufficiently to support the growth of the State’s economy, the speaker said.
We will keep working to make the regulatory environment and business climate better.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the chance the project gave the youths while also stating that it supported the administration’s goal of giving youths a respectable life through work.

“The unique location will not only give students of engineering and related fields room for employment, but will also help them acquire practical training in auto engineering,” he said.
Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, the minister for science, technology, and innovation, reaffirmed that the Hub is an example of the youth’s burgeoning creative and intellectual vigour, stating that the country needs that right now.
“We have the capacity, ability, and endowment to meet our needs in this country,” he remarked, referencing President Muhammadu Buhari’s signature of Executive Order 5, which calls for integrating indigenous components into all production.
The Hub will close the knowledge gap between theory and practice and dispel the myth that Nigerian graduates lack employability.
The Hub, which consists of Manufacturing, Assembling, Showroom, After Sales Service, and Research and Development Centre, has brought about a new age in which Nigerians’ yearning to drive new automobiles would be satisfied, according to Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman/CEO of NORD Automobile.
This Hub is what I shall refer to as an end-to-end assembly complex. Nigerians pay a high price for cars because they are not made here.
We must adopt a nationalistic perspective and begin with industrial production if we want to obtain cars at reasonable prices.
