The Appeal Court in Lagos has unequivocally upheld the legitimacy of Francis Nwifuru governorship in Ebonyi State.
The judgment solidifies his position as the duly elected governor following the March 18 gubernatorial poll under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three-member panel, headed by Justice Jummai Sankey, delivered a unanimous verdict, dismissing the appeal brought forth by Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Odii contested the validity of Nwifuru’s election, but the court firmly ruled in favor of the APC governor.
The court meticulously addressed all five issues raised by the PDP, emphatically declaring them in favor of Francis Nwifuru. The decision emphasized that the appeal lacked merit, leading to its outright dismissal.
Justice Sankey, delivering the lead judgment, underscored that the PDP and its candidate lacked the legal standing to intrude into the internal affairs of the APC, particularly in matters pertaining to candidate nominations.
