NBC fines TVC, Arise TV N2m, Here’s Why
Two television stations; Television Continental (TVC) and Arise TV were sanctioned for violating sections of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.

The television stations were fined N2 million each, according to a letter from the Commission’s Director General, Barabe Shehu Ilelah.
“The penalty shall be paid within two weeks of the receipt of the letter or the sanction shall be increased,” according to one section of the letter.

“The broadcaster shall ensure that its presenters handle programme with professionalism and sound judgement, to ensure that it does not lose focus or lead to unfair treatment of any person or institution.
“Broadcasting shall promote human dignity; therefore, hate speech is prohibited.
The Broadcaster shall not transmit any program, program promotion, community service announcement, or station identity that is likely to provoke or perpetuate intense dislike, serious contempt, or severe ridicule in a reasonable person because of age, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, disability, race, religion, or political leaning.”
