Soldiers allegedly shot one of the youths protesting the scarcity of fuel and naira notes in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital.
In lieu of the scarcity of the new naira notes and also scarcity of the petroleum products, residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital took to the streets on friday.

Since Friday, protests have halted activities in the state’s major cities, with youths carrying placards expressing their dissatisfaction with the situation.
Some reports say that the incident took place early on Saturday, February 4.
The Nigerian Tribune reported that an eyewitness said that people only saw soldiers’ vehicles drive through the Brent at Apata area of Ibadan, Oyo state, and then they all heard gunshots.
“Everyone ran for their lives, and some people lay on the floor to stop bullets from going the wrong way.”
Another injured woman is being treated at Lafia Hospital in the NNPC area right now.

However in response the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde have stated that Nigerians should not venge their anger on themselves instead, take it to the polls.

The Oyo State Governor however announced the deployment of free Omituntun transport buses to cushion the effect of the fuel and naira scarcity currently roiling the country.
