JUST IN: Police, soldiers, stop Tinubu rally in Niger, give reason

Tinubu Niger Rally: The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and governorship candidates rally which was to ve held at the New Bussa Township Stadium in the Borgu Local Government Area (LGA), has been cordoned off by security personnel.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and neighborhood vigilante groups were also deployed to the New Bussa Stadium location of the planned rally as early as 8 a.m. for an event that was scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The purpose of the rally, which was organized by Sabi Abdullahi, the deputy chief whip of the Senate, was to promote Kashim Shettima and Bola Tinubu as candidates.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger police command’s spokesperson, said in a succinct statement that sealing the venue was a “proactive measure” based on the intelligence they had received.

According to Abiodun, the police would not permit the state to suffer needless human casualties or property damage.
