Why We besiege Okorocha’s Residence–EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained why its agents broke into Senator Rochas Okorocha’s Abuja home on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, EFCC agents reportedly invaded the home of the former governor of Imo State.

The EFCC stated in a statement that it filed 17-count charges against the senator on January 24, 2022, to explain the operation.

The charges involve the diversion of N2.9 billion in public funds and properties.

The matter was assigned to Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to the statement.

All attempts to arraign Okorocha were unsuccessful, according to the EFCC, because he reportedly eluded the service processes.

The invasion of his home was allegedly caused by his alleged unwillingness to accept the agency’s invitation after jumping the administrative bail previously granted to him.

According to the outlet, after adjourning the case on March 28th, Justice Ekwo stated that it would be “the last adjournment I shall allow in this matter.”

The Commission stated that it had no choice but to arrest and prosecute Okorocha.

Meanwhile, Senator Okorocha has raised an alert that the EFCC had raided his residence without a warrant of arrest in the early hours of today.
