JUSUN Declares Indefinite Strike Over Allegations of Maladministration
In a decisive move, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State Chapter, has initiated an indefinite industrial action, effective immediately. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the chairman of JUSUN in the state, Oluwagbenga Olakunle Eludire.
Allegations Against Osun Chief Judge
This bold step follows protests held on Monday and Tuesday by Osun JUSUN, focusing on allegations of maladministration against the embattled Osun Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo. The JUSUN members have accused her of various wrongdoings, including unduly persecuting some staff members and denying them entitlements.
Demands for Justice and Fair Treatment
Among the grievances voiced by JUSUN members are the restoration of training exercises, payment of arrears of wardrobe allowances from 2021 to 2023, and the reinstatement of judiciary staff in the state who were suspended by Justice Adepele Ojo. The call for a prompt regularisation and promotion exercise has also been emphasised, along with the timely implementation of other entitled benefits.
Call for Action
Eludire, in his directive, urged all judiciary workers in the state to refrain from attending courts and their offices, emphasizing the withdrawal of their services until their demands are met.
This development adds to the ongoing challenges faced by the Nigerian judiciary system, and it underscores the significance of addressing concerns related to maladministration and fair treatment within the legal fraternity.
