‘Three Countries’ Involved In IPOB Leader’s Detention

Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the persecuted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused Kenya, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria of having a hand in his client’s arrest and continued detention.

On Sunday, Ejimakor addressed these allegations via Twitter.

He suggested that Kenya, which ought to be expressing regret, could have demanded Kanu’s return.

He criticised the United Kingdom for failing to protect British passport-holder Kanu.

In addition, the attorney criticised Nigeria for not following its own laws. Despite the dismissal of the terrorism charges against him by the Appeal Court in Abuja on October 13, 2022, the IPOB leader’s detention has continued.

Reflecting on the situation, Ejimakor stated, “Mazi Kanu Kanu would have been released if Kenya had shown remorse by demanding his return to Kenya, if the United Kingdom had protected him as it did Umar Dikko in 1984, and if Nigeria had decided to abide by the law. Three nations are conspiring against one man in #MNK’s ordeal.
