Estranged Brothers: A Feud That Captivated Public Attention

Kunle Afolayan, a renowned filmmaker, and Aremu, an actor, had been publicly feuding for several years, with their disagreements often spilling into the media. Their feud gained widespread attention in 2018 when Kunle criticized Aremu for his comments about their late father’s financial struggles despite his fame. Aremu, in an earlier interview, claimed that he had been born into poverty, which deeply embarrassed Kunle due to their striking resemblance. This led to public confusion, with friends and associates often mistaking one for the other.

Their discord escalated over time, with Aremu posting a series of angry social media rants, the most infamous being a profanity-laden tirade in March 2023. In the video, Aremu vented his frustration at his family for not supporting him, especially for not buying him a car. These public spats continued to fuel the ongoing rift.

In a touching moment, Aremu apologized to Kunle for the challenges he had caused, particularly the backlash from his earlier Instagram post. “I’m sorry for putting you through the Instagram backlash. It’s because I love you,” Aremu said, expressing deep regret for his past actions. He also acknowledged Kunle’s contributions to the family, including building a house for their mother in both their names, even though Aremu had not financially contributed to its construction.
