Confusion as Labour Party holds factional guber primaries in Imo 

 

Confusion surrounds the Labour Party (LP) governorship primary in Imo State, as three factions held the party’s gubernatorial primary election in different locations across the state on Saturday.

 

According to reports, ten of the candidates held their elections at the Landmark Event Centre in New Owerri with their delegates, while three others held their elections along MCC Road, Urrata in Owerri North Local Government Area.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party and chairman of the screening committee for the party’s state congress election, allegedly identified with one of the factions, according to reports.

 

Major General Lincoln Jack Ogunewe (ret.), Senator Athan Achonu, Martin Agbaso, and Chief Joseph Ukaegbu are among those vying for the Labour Party’s governorship nomination and possessing the Nomination Forms.

Tochi J.Ehirim, Ike Ibe, Kelechi Nwagwu, Basil Maduka, Chinedu Amadi, AIG Charles Agomuo (retired), Capt David Mbamara (retired), Fabian Ihekueme, and Chief C. Ishiguzo are also members.
