Tribunal Rejects Labour Party’s Petition in Rivers Governorship Election.

 

ABUJA, Nigeria – In the ongoing Rivers State Governorship Election petition, the tribunal has dismissed the petition brought forward by the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Beatrice Itubo. Itubo had contested the declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Simnalaye Fubara as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the State.

The Tribunal, currently convening in Abuja, is addressing petitions filed by both the LP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Tonye Cole.

Beatrice Itubo, who sought to have the tribunal declare her as the victor of the polls, had finished third in the election. Her challenge to the election results has been met with this rejection by the tribunal.
