According to reports, the phone calls began last week after the Commissioner of Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin, testified before the House of Assembly to defend the ministry’s fiscal year 2022 budget.
Oladoyin told legislators that the state government was committed to hiring teachers for public schools, and that the names of successful candidates in the teacher recruitment process will be released and deployed to classrooms by November of this year.
The commissioner was responding to a statement by Hon. Babajide Adewunmi, the Assembly Minority Leader, who complained that there aren’t enough instructors in Osun public schools and questioned why the state government hasn’t hired new teachers.

However, beginning last Wednesday, several applicants across the state have been receiving phone calls from Ministry of Education personnel, according to sources.
One of the applicants who spoke to the medium yesterday in Osogbo said he received a call from someone purporting to be from the Ministry of Education on Monday.
The caller, according to the applicant, wanted to know his major, graduation year, and birth date.
Another candidate confirmed the phone contact with a ministry official, claiming she was asked a few questions about her educational history.
The ministry would most likely want to confirm our details before compiling the final list,” the candidate stated.
The scenario was confirmed by an official from the ministry’s Examination Department, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The ministry was contacting those applicants who had passed the pass grade but had not stated their discipline on the recruiting form during the registration procedure, according to the official.
