Leeds appoint Allardyce as new coach to replace sacked Gracia
In an effort to remain in the Premier League, Leeds fired manager Javi Gracia and replaced him with Sam Allardyce.
Following Victor Orta’s dismissal as director of football, the club announced on Wednesday the departure of Gracia and his staff.

Gracia, who only joined Leeds in February, departs after four losses in five Premier League games; with four games remaining, Leeds remains outside of the bottom three based on goal differential.
“Leeds can confirm that Javi Gracia will leave the club after 12 games in charge,” the club said in a statement. “Along with Gracia, Zigor Aranalde, Mikel Antia, and Juan Solla will also leave the club.
“We appreciate Javi and his team’s efforts in challenging circumstances.
Sam Allardyce, an experienced head coach, will direct the remaining four games of the season.

West Brom was relegated from the Premier League for the first time in 2021, and Allardyce left the club six months into an 18-month contract.
The 68-year-old former Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham, and England manager succeeds Jesse Marsch and Gracia as Leeds’ third permanent manager of the season.
