MC Oluomo’s Membership Revoked by NURTW Amid Ongoing Power Struggle
Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been officially stripped of his membership in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). This was confirmed by the union’s Southwest Zonal Chairman, Olalekan Folorunsho, also known as Lekan Salami.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 18, Salami explained that MC Oluomo forfeited his membership in 2022 after publicly tearing his union identity card in defiance of a disciplinary query issued by the national leadership.
“Our constitution is explicit on such matters,” Salami stated. “Any returning member must submit a formal application to the national leadership for approval. Additionally, they must serve at the grassroots level for at least two years before becoming eligible to contest for any position.”
Non-Compliance Renders MC Oluomo Ineligible
Salami revealed that MC Oluomo has not adhered to these requirements, thereby disqualifying him from holding any office within the NURTW. The former Lagos State chairman’s actions and subsequent fallout highlight deeper issues within the union’s leadership structure.
The zonal chairman also reaffirmed the authority of Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the national president of the NURTW. Baruwa’s leadership was recently validated by a Court of Appeal ruling, which Salami said should put an end to disputes over the union’s presidency.
Call for Order and Stability
Salami called on the government to recognise Baruwa’s leadership and condemned disruptive activities within the union. “The NURTW in Osun State and other regions remains under the legitimate leadership of Baruwa. Gangsterism and unlawful acts have no place in our union, and MC Oluomo should be called to order,” he stated.
This development is the latest chapter in the internal crisis plaguing the NURTW. While factions continue to challenge Baruwa’s presidency, the court ruling offers a framework for resolving conflicts and restoring unity across the organization.
