Lagos Transport Leader, MC Oluomo, Sworn In as National President of NURTW
Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has officially been inaugurated as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The swearing-in ceremony took place at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in his career as a transport union leader.
MC Oluomo’s Rise to National Leadership
MC Oluomo’s appointment came as a result of a consensus decision during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference held at the NURTW Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State. Representatives from four Southwest states—Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, and Ondo—participated in the conference, which zoned the position of National President to the region.

A large crowd of supporters and union members accompanied MC Oluomo to the national secretariat, underscoring his popularity and influence within the transport union. Upon arrival, Akinsanya was formally introduced to the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the NURTW.
Key Appointments in the New Leadership Team
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh. Alongside Akinsanya, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede was sworn in as the Vice President for the Southwest zone, while Akeem Adeosun was appointed as a Trustee of the union. These appointments signify a new leadership structure aimed at enhancing the union’s operations across the country.
MC Oluomo Pledges Unity and Member Welfare
In his acceptance speech, MC Oluomo expressed deep gratitude to the union members and his supporters. He vowed to uphold the NURTW constitution and lead the union towards progress with a focus on member welfare and unity.
“I promise to lead the union to greater heights with the help of Almighty Allah,” Akinsanya stated. He highlighted his commitment to fostering peace and unity among members, aiming to strengthen the union’s role in Nigeria’s transport sector.
