Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central, has been elected Majority Leader of the Tenth Senate.

1. Bamidele earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from the University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, in 1986.

2. He also attended the University of Benin in Edo State, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with honours in 1990.

3. In 1992, Bamidele began a full-time legal career.

4. He also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the prestigious Franklin Pierce Law Centre at the University of New Hampshire Law School in Concord, New Hampshire, USA.

5. Bamidele is a member of the New York and Nigerian Bars, the American Bar Association, and the International Bar Association.

6. In June 1992, he ran for the Federal House of Representatives from the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency in Lagos State on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.

7. He was Senator Bola Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Legal Matters.

8. During the administration of former Governor Bola Tinubu, he served as Commissioner for the Lagos Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Social Development.

9. In April 2011, he was elected to the 7th National Assembly to represent Ekiti Central federal constituency 1.

10. He has served in the Nigerian Senate as a member of the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assembly, representing Ekiti Central.
