The Nigerian naira took a hit on Monday, depreciating significantly in value against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.

According to data obtained from the FMDQ Securities Exchange, the naira fell to a rate of N1,234 per US dollar, representing a decline of N65 or 5.26% from its previous rate of N1,169.99 per US dollar recorded on Friday.
