This decline was primarily attributed to selloffs in Fidelity Bank, Sovereign Insurance, and other companies. As a result, the market capitalization dropped from N34.87 trillion to N34.16 trillion.
The All-Share Index also suffered a decline, losing 1,297.99 basis points. It closed at 62,748.94 ASI compared to the previous day’s value of 64,046.93 ASI.
During the trading session, investors traded 798.46 million shares in 10,296 deals, with a total worth of N10.44 billion. This was in contrast to the preceding day’s trading, which saw 1.63 billion shares exchanged in 13,878 deals valued at N12.69 billion.
Among the gainers, John Holt saw a rise in share value by N0.15 kobo, closing at N1.65 kobo per share from N1.50 kobo per share. Dangote Sugar also experienced an increase of N2.70 kobo, moving from N27.15 kobo to N29.85 kobo per share. Nascon gained N2.30 kobo, closing at N25.50 kobo, while Skyway Aviation’s share price rose by N1.20 kobo, ending at N13.45 kobo per share. Golden Brew witnessed a rise of N0.26 kobo in share price, appreciating from N2.67 kobo to N2.93 kobo per share.
However, there were also losers in the market. Wema Bank topped the losers’ list, dropping by N0.50 kobo to N4.50 kobo per share from N5. Fidelity Bank’s share price decreased by N0.79 kobo, closing at N7.11 kobo per share. Stanbic IBTC also experienced a loss of N6.80 kobo, ending trading at N61.20 kobo per share from N68. Sovereign Insurance’s share price dropped from N0.50 kobo to N0.45 kobo per share, reflecting a 10% loss. Omatek also lost 10%, dropping from N0.60 kobo to N0.54 kobo per share.
In terms of the most active trading, UBA led the way with 99.01 million shares valued at N1.33 billion. FBN Holdings followed with 72.68 million shares worth N1.28 billion, while Transcorp sold 68.79 million shares worth N280.80 million.
