Newly Promoted NSCDC Officer Collapses, Dies After Receiving Salary.

A newly promoted officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified as Opatola and attached to the Iwo division, reportedly collapsed and died shortly after receiving his salary.

Reports indicate that Opatola passed away on Monday within the division’s restroom following a brief period of work in the office.

A source within the NSCDC command, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that the officer, promoted and decorated only last week, appeared healthy when he resumed duty that day.

According to the source, “We all received our salary notifications around the same time as the deceased, and most of us felt disheartened by the amount. Opatola looked visibly concerned and spoke about it with colleagues. He appeared well as he attended to a few cases that morning.”

The source further explained that after finishing some tasks, Opatola excused himself to visit the restroom. “Minutes passed, and when colleagues noticed his prolonged absence, they went to check on him and found him collapsed on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors sadly pronounced him dead,” the source recounted.

Another insider expressed regret over the unexpected passing, saying, “It’s deeply upsetting that Opatola, who was just promoted, slumped and died so soon after. It’s believed that his disappointment with the salary amount may have worsened an underlying health condition, leading to his sudden death.”

Attempts to reach the NSCDC spokesperson for Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or text messages at the time of this report.
