It was discovered that three of the accreditation machines were irreparably damaged and therefore cannot be used for the elections.

Johnson Alalibo, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, told Ejes Gist News Nigeria and election observer representatives that the development would not affect the process.

Alalibo stated that the commission has sufficient backup systems and that the absence of any would not affect the operation in any way.

He stated that the electoral official would prevent criminals from using the missing devices.

In addition, the REC of INEC guaranteed that election results would be uploaded in real time following the voting process, ensuring a free and fair election.

Obinna Ebogidi, the state representative of YIAGA Africa, has urged INEC to ensure that their promise of sufficient machines is fulfilled.

Ebogidi stated, “The REC informed us that 22 BVAS machines are missing, and that 6,865 BVAS machines have been reconfigured in preparation for Saturday’s election.”

“Our concern is that results from the polling places should be uploaded early to avoid a repeat of what occurred during the last election,”
