NLC Commences Nationwide Indefinite Strike

In an unexpected turn of events, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has taken the decision to indefinitely suspend the State Delegates Conference in Imo State. The announcement came from Mr. Emma Ugboaja, the General Secretary of NLC, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, addressing all the congress affiliates.

The conference, originally slated for January 10, was set to be held simultaneously in three states, namely Abia, Imo, and Osun. However, the NLC cited unforeseen circumstances specific to Imo State as the reason for the abrupt suspension.

Mr. Ugboaja, in his statement, extended the information to all affiliates, especially those associated with state councils in Imo.

He conveyed the regrettable necessity of postponing the conference due to unforeseen circumstances in the state, while assuring that the conferences in the other two states, Abia and Osun, would proceed as initially planned.

“As we persist in our efforts to fortify the Congress for effective mandate delivery, any further developments will be communicated promptly,” Mr. Ugboaja stated.

The decision to suspend the conference in Imo has raised questions about the nature of the unforeseen circumstances and how it might impact the broader objectives of the NLC.
